General Engraving FAQs
What types of material can you engrave?
The most common engraving materials are traffolyte (2 ply plastic) and stainless steel. Engraving Mackay also engrave brass, acrylic, anodised aluminium, wood and glass.
Can you make stencils?
Yes, we make stencils from plastic or thin metal.
Can you engrave curved surfaces?
No, however some materials can be curved after engraving.
What electronic file formats can you use for supplied artwork?
We can only use vector files which are eps, ai and pdf.
Do you keep previous job details?
Yes, we keep extensive records and should be able to reproduce any previous job exactly as before.
How can I fix my engraved labels?
We can drill holes for you to screw or rivet, or apply double sided tape to the back. You can fix using industrial adhesives like Sikaflex.

Engraving Materials: Traffolyte
What is traffolyte?
A dual ply laminated plastic. The thin top layer is removed to reveal the colour underneath. It is 1.6mm thick and also known as Gravoply and Rowmark.
What colours can I have?
The most popular colours are white/black, black/white, red/white, white/red, blue/white, white/blue, green/white, white/green, yellow/black, gold/black, silver/black. Other colours are available.
What size can you manufacture?
Typically, the minimum size is around 15x15mm but we do have the capacity to create something smaller. Maximum size is 800x400mm.
How long does it take to engrave my traffolyte labels?
That depends on how large your order is and what work we have on but generally it will take two to four working days. We can do urgent orders if required.

Can you make coloured text on metals?
Yes, within reason, we can paint fill text and graphics. Only basic paint colours are available – black, red, green, blue.
What size can you manufacture?
Typically, the minimum size is around 25x10mm and the maximum size is 800x600mm.
How long does it take to engrave my labels?
That depends on how large your order is and what work we have on but generally it will take three to five working days. We can do urgent orders if required.
Can you cut to shape?
Yes, but there are a few variables. This is a separate operation and it is best to call us on 07 4998 5665 to discuss your requirements.
